Learning Tasks

1. Read pages 140-145 and answer questions 1-9.​​​
2. ​Using the information from pages 140-145, create an annotated timeline, showing the impact of the war on the home front from 1939-1945. Divide the timeline into four sections (39-41, 41-43, 43-44, 44-45). For each section, include bullet point details about the most significant effects of the war on Germany.
3. Now create a second timeline. This time, design it as a 'living graph' (see this page for instructions). On the horizontal axis, include the dates 1939-1945. On the vertical axis, have 'success/victory' at the top, and 'failure/defeat' at the bottom. Now using the internet, research the key battles that Germany fought in WW2. Decide where they should be plotted onto your living graph. Think about whether this battle/campaign was a success or failure for Germany. Then connect all the events with a line. Your complete living graph should look like a rollercoaster - it should rise upwards from 1939-1942/3, and then dip downwards from 1943-45.
